An article about Jewish Censuses from Ted Bainbridge

Got an unsolicited email from Ted Bainbridge, PhD, asking if we were interested in publishing a couple of papers that he had written for the Jewish Genealogical community on our website.  Of course we're interested.  And now that we have a blog, we have the perfect place to put them.

First, a bit about Ted Bainbridge.  Ted has been a genealogist since 1969.  In recent years, he has made a hobby of writing articles for genealogical and historical societies, and has been published many times by national, state, and local organizations.  But never by us (until now).

Ok, so back to Jewish Census... In Ted's words:
While hunting for censuses I found some items that were named as Jewish censuses but were not indexed as Jewish or Jew or Jews and therefore very hard to find.  So I wrote the census article with the hope of spreading it around and helping other people.
